Forever In Debt

Forever In Debt

I’ve seen the rise and fall of many men, lessons learned, I’ve got to be okay with that,
An executive chef cooks up a steak, closely watch’em work, then I quietly filet the scraps,
I have brothers still escaping mazes as my team watches film of our minds as they finagle traps,
Tossin’, turnin’, sweatin’, scratchin’, screamin’, sedate him until the pain stops, it may take days for that,
He just blotted out his existence, this is deeper than hypnosis, we don’t just came back from finger snaps,
You ever see the sunrise over the Gateway Motel….me either, a spot where the walking dead would linger at,
Lovely is the gossip, assassinate one of God’s kids, and once his character’s dead, your spirit says to bring him back,
Tell a room full of sick and suffering you stand on principle then walk out scheming, fancy to partake in that,
They told me we only get one life, apologies we always get ourselves in checkmate, we love to play like that,
An AA’er I met one Sunday afternoon by nightfall uttered “Love you man”, I was hesitant to say it back,
Months followed of that unconditional, that indispensable, brutally honest love, I pray for that,
And now I trudge with my head up, mission set in place, pay it forward and for another chance I can never truly pay it back.
